Welcome to the very first edition of Charlene's Travel Notes!
I'm Charlene Dunbar, a TravelOnly Travel Advisor based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I'm delighted to have a place here to share practical travel advice, personal experiences and thoughtful insights to help you plan your next holiday with confidence.
I'll be publishing a new edition every two weeks, covering everything from cruise experiences and destination discoveries to common travel mistakes, planning tips and the little details that can make a big difference to your trip.
One of the wonderful aspects of being a travel advisor is having opportunities to learn more about the travel experiences I help my clients explore.
During my inspection of Celebrity Silhouette, I had the opportunity to discover more about the ship's wellness facilities and the different ways guests can enjoy their time onboard.
What stood out to me most was the feeling that, even with so many people around, you could still find a little escape of your own — a place to step away from the activity of the ship, unwind and enjoy a moment of pampering.
The Persian Garden, with its curved heated loungers and large windows overlooking the water, beautifully captures that sense of retreat. It reminded me that a cruise doesn't have to be all about exploring ports, joining activities or keeping busy. Sometimes, it's about giving yourself permission to slow down, recharge and simply enjoy the moment.
Wellness onboard can mean different things to different people. Celebrity Silhouette also features a fitness centre with cardio equipment and ocean views, offering an option for guests who enjoy maintaining their exercise routines while travelling. I also photographed the spa and salon areas, showcasing some of the personal-care services available onboard.
Whether you prefer a workout with a view, a spa experience or simply a peaceful place to unwind, these facilities offer different ways to make your cruise feel like your own.
And that's something worth considering when choosing your next cruise: What do you want to feel when you travel?
Are you looking for excitement and exploration? Time with family? Rest and relaxation? Or perhaps a little of everything?
Thinking about what matters most to you can help you choose a cruise and itinerary that fit your travel style.
In future editions of Charlene's Travel Notes, I'll be sharing more first-hand cruise experiences, useful planning advice, destination inspiration and tips to help you avoid common travel pitfalls.
My goal is simple: to help you feel better informed and more confident when planning your travels.
Thank you for being here at the beginning of this journey. I look forward to sharing more travel notes with you!
Until next time, happy travels!
